We collect information that is reasonably necessary to operate our experiences safely and effectively. This may include:

  • Booking information including session details, purchase history, and gift voucher information
  • Health and safety information relevant to sauna and cold-water use, such as heart conditions, pregnancy, or physical injuries
  • Payment information, which is processed securely by third-party providers and for which we do not store full credit card details
  • Communications you have with us via email, phone, or online forms

2. How we collect information

Information is collected directly from you when you:

  • Make a booking
  • Complete a digital waiver
  • Subscribe to updates
  • Enter a promotion
  • Contact us with an enquiry

In some cases, we may also receive information from authorised booking agents or third-party platforms acting on your behalf.

3. Minors (guests aged 12–17)

Watershed Saunas is open to guests aged 12 and over.

  • Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
  • A parent or legal guardian is required to complete the booking and sign the safety waiver on the minor’s behalf
  • By doing so, the guardian consents to the collection and use of the minor’s personal and health information in accordance with this Privacy Policy

4. Why we collect your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Manage bookings and deliver our services
  • Assess health and safety risks prior to sauna use
  • Communicate essential operational or safety-related updates
  • Meet our legal, insurance, and health and safety obligations
  • Send marketing communications where you have explicitly opted in

5. Health and safety information

Due to the physical nature of sauna and cold-water experiences, we collect limited sensitive health information. This information is:

  • Provided voluntarily via waivers or questionnaires
  • Used solely for safety and risk management purposes
  • Accessed only by authorised staff on a need-to-know basis
  • Retained only for as long as reasonably required for legal, operational, or insurance purposes

6. Shared environment and photography

Shared environment

Watershed is a communal wellness environment. While we do not conduct audio or video recording of guests during sessions:

  • Other participants may be present during your experience
  • Watershed cannot control the actions of other guests in shared spaces

Photography and media

From time to time, Watershed may capture photography or video content for marketing purposes.

  • Identifiable images of guests are only used where consent has been given
  • Guests, or guardians on behalf of minors, may opt out of photography at any time by notifying staff

7. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.

  • Personal information is stored using secure, cloud-based systems for bookings, waivers, communications, and payments
  • Some service providers may store data outside New Zealand
  • Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure information is protected in a manner consistent with New Zealand privacy standards

8. Third-party service providers

We do not sell personal information.

We may share relevant information only with trusted third-party providers where necessary to operate our business, including:

  • Booking and reservation systems
  • Digital waiver and safety platforms
  • Payment processors
  • Email and communication tools

These providers are required to handle personal information securely and only for the purposes for which it is provided.
